Alexis & Cameron // Sedona Elopement
Alexis and Cameron are my heroes. Several of the weddings I filmed in August-November, 2022 were interrupted by rainstorms, but nothing like what Alexis and Cameron experienced. They were eloping with a few close friends and family members at the base of Bell Rock. We were a 10 minute hike from the cars or any kind of shelter. Before weddings, I always check the forecast, and this storm came from nowhere. Literally as Alexis started walking down the red rock aisle, a fast and furious storm came from the west. It went from sprinkling to pouring in minutes. The wind picked up, and the lightning got intense. Thank goodness my friend Sam was there to help get some drone shots, because he helped hold my rain jacket over my tripod as I huddled under an umbrella with my second camera with Danielle Holman, photographer. I filmed as long as I could before I knew I was at risk of destroying my cameras. The wind was making the rain go sideways and blowing umbrellas inside out. I kept shooting in 4K with my iPhone, but even that ended up ruining my phone. The officiant rushed the ceremony and then we booked it to the cars. We weren’t just damp, we were all completely soaked. Like jumped in a pool soaked. And of course, a double rainbow greeted us at the parking lot. A few days later, Danielle Holman and I met up again with Alexis and Cameron for a sweet vow and photo redo with sunny skies. By that point, Alexis and Cameron were already able to laugh about it all.
